Manipulating Email Lists in Excel

April 1, 2010 – 7:15 pm

Keeping a contact list in excel is convenient for a lot of reasons. However, it can be a technical process to attempt to transfer an addressbook or contact list into a list of viable email addresses.

Using our email list stripper tool and a little know-how, you can now make this task a lot easier.

Our tool does not accept .XLS file input, but you can paste the contents of a .CSV.

Tips for email list manipulation in excel:

- Save your file as a new version you can modify and edit without corrupting the original.

- Erase columns of un-necessary information that do not include email addresses.

- Save from excel as a .CSV file (FILE-SAVE AS – comma seperated value, essentially text!)

- Open the .CSV file in a text editor (wordpad recommended) using FILE-OPEN from wordpad’s menu. (Choose to open all files not just .txt)

- Paste content from wordpad into the email stripper to generate a viable list when pressing the “activate” button.

- Please note there is more than one way to do the above steps.
